The intelligent ear tag for sows with integrated temperature and motion sensor BioTag+, from Big Dutchman, is an innovative solution for constant sow monitoring that provides information on health, heat detection and imminent farrowing. You wonder how this works? The new ear tag comes with two integrated sensors, which constantly record the specific sow’s temperature and movement data. The OrbitX IoT gateway sends these data to the cloud, where an AI algorithm analyses them and transmits the data to your smartphone, tablet or PC via the BFN Fusion farm management system. You thus know when to inseminate sows in the service centre, for example. But there’s more! Sows are often kept in groups in the gestation and service area but, increasingly, also while they are lactating. BioTag+ provides ideal support for the latter case. The system is able to determine the upcoming farrowing around twelve hours in advance because of continuous data recording and analysis.
