Steinernema carpocapsae
Palma-Life contains the insect-parasitic nematodes Steinernema carpocapsae and offers the ideal biological solution for the control of the red palm weevil and palm borer. When the nematodes are placed on the crown of the palm trees, they start searching for the larvae of their prey. As soon as the nematodes penetrate the larvae through the natural body orifices, the bacteria living in symbiosis with the nematodes are released. These bacteria produce a toxin that kills the host. These bacteria transform the host tissue into digestible components for the nematodes. The nematodes multiply in the cadaver. When it disintegrates, a new generation of useful nematodes spreads and starts searching for new victims.
