Chondroitin sulfate

Joint cartilage is made up of 60/80% water, 8% glycosaminoglycans, which are responsible for maintaining the properties of cartilage, 2% chondrocytes and collagen.
Chondroitin sulfate is a natural glycosaminoglycan found in cartilage that, when administered orally, protects against osteoarthritis.
The mechanisms of action of chondroitin sulfate include:
•Protective effect for cells (stabilizes membranes) and the components of cartilage.
•Increases Proteoglycan and Hyaluronic Acid synthesis.
•Blocks metalloprotease activity (chondrocytes).
•Inhibition of NO: decreases apoptosis.
