ACTIVE ALLEY FLOORING
Magellan® is the first rubber active alley flooring combining comfort and security.
It is composed of grooves allowing the continuous evacuation of liquids toward the collection facilities thereby reducing ammonia generation.
Magellan Groove combines rubber fingers with a bladed scraper. The scraper passes every
90 minutes to evacuate excrement.
This system assures the automatic evacuation of manure. The animals’ hooves are elevated above the excreted fluids keeping them dry.
This process solves one of the most important problems of traditional alley flooring as the animal’s hoof is elevated above the excreta fluids.
Ammonia is the cause of respiratory intoxication and an accelerator of development of some hoof pathologies.
The liquids are rapidly conveyed to avoid synthesizing ammonia in the alleys, which is an aggravating factor of many diseases such as « Mortellaro ».
Hoof problems are among the largest costs and a leading reason for culling cows prior to reproduction. Reproduction and hoof problems are often directly related. Comfortable cow traffic and a healthy environment are key to animal longevity, profitability and a dairyman’s peace of mind.
THANKS TO THIS SYSTEM
Cows’ hooves stay above liquids making hooves drier, harder and healthier.
Movement on flexible rubber protects joints.
Bacteriological problems such as digital dermatitis also called (Mortellaro’s disease) can be better controlled.
Reduced ammonia generation (already strictly regulated in certain countries).
