Description
1200 litre Settlement Tank is constructed using corrosion resistant, UV stabilised polyethene and designed for the containment of liquids up to a Specific Gravity of 1.5. The 17520660ST 1200 Litre Settlement Tank is used in primary water treatment requiring settlement or clarification of liquids or the bulk removal of solids from wastewater. Coagulation and flocculation reagents may be added to the liquid to be clarified where the reagents cause the suspended particles to clump together to form a sludge, which can be removed from the tank leaving a clarified solution.
What is the Settlement Process?
Sedimentation processes serve for separation of heavy and floating matter. Primary sludge consists of solids contained in raw sewage and is removed in primary settling tanks, secondary sludge consists of biomass generated during biological treatment and is removed in clarifiers. Dirty water (contaminated liquid) enters the tank from the top via a central pipe where particles and sediment sink to the base of the cone. The clean water rises to the top of the tank and flows over launder rings into an outer ‘liner’ from where it is piped away. A PN16 outlet in the cone allows complete flush down and a PN16 flange at the base of the side of cone permits sludge removal.
