In order to realize an optimal crop yield under more stringent/lower manuring standards, the slurry must be applied as efficiently as possible in places where it is needed the most. In other words, in the rows, as closely as possible to the roots. In order to achieve this target, Evers has developed the place-specific "Garanno" injector. In 2010, this machine has been intensively tested, mainly on maize but also on potatoes. After a few changes, the final model has been drawn up and went into production for the 2011 season. The garanno injector is used for the last operation before sowing/planting. The slurry is injected in rows which are 75 cm apart. With a straight tine and a frame clearance of 75 cm, the soil is loosened up to a depth of 20 to 40 cm. The aim is to break up any hard layers, to allow more air into the soil, and to ensure optimal drainage. The next section of tines will then inject the slurry at the required depth into the soil. After injecting the slurry, aroller is used to compact the soil for the best possible seedbed. By using a GPS, the place-specific coördinates can be retained in a digital form. This information will be entered at the sowing combination and the seed will be dropped right on top of the slurry.
