marstall Isländer Robust-Müsli has been specially developed for breeds that tend to be good doers and horses that live at grass. The balanced recipe ensures a healthy diet with all the nutrients and ingredients the horse needs in a readily available form.
Our marstall Isländer Robust-Müsli contains low amounts of energy and protein, but has all the essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
The statement that hardy breeds or horses that live out should only be fed hay and grass is not entirely true. The meadows and pastures that we have today have become unbalanced due to decades of intensive use. The flora becomes impoverished, which often has the result that although horses fed only on hay and grass get enough energy and protein, they do not receive sufficient nutrients. Matt, dull coats, a lengthy moulting period, itching, scurf, brittle hooves or a decline in performance are the sometimes serious consequences of a lack of nutrients.
Horses that are good doers require a filling and low-energy feed with a balanced blend of nutrients. The marstall Isländer Robust-Müsli is perfectly designed to meet the needs of Icelandic horses, Haflingers, Fjord horses, Connemaras, Freibergers, Criollos, coldbloods and similar hardy breeds. Because they are able to digest cellulose very efficiently, crude fibre cobs and alfalfa chaff are mixed into the muesli. These are a traditional source of energy and also help to encourage chewing and a feeling of fullness.
