Description

Gold Rush is a golden yellow, cylinder-shaped marrow with a fine texture and an excellent nutty taste. It is rapidly growing and easy to harvest since the plant grows upright and openly. Courgettes are most delicous when the fruit reaches a length of about 10 to 20 cm. The fruits are low in calories, rich in vitamins and easy to digest. Natural location: The Marrow or Zucchini is native to Europe and a cultivar from the common vegetable marrow. The original variety was developed at the end of the 17th century in Italy. In the kitchen: If you harvest the fruits regularly, the plant will continue to produce new flowers which will develop into fruits. Don’t leave the fruits on the plant as this will affect its performance. Simply cut off the courgettes with a knife for harvest. Marrows can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 14 days. However, the fruits are not suited for freezing, as they will become soft and watery and lose their consistency. Courgettes can be used raw in salads, steamed in slices or pieces, or stir-fried in a pan. They also make a nice soup and are popular stuffed with minced meat, couscous, mushrooms or rice. A special delicacy are also the large Courgette blossoms.
