Our innovative feed trough system has many advantages over conventional systems
Cockerels quickly find room to eat on a trough. Instead of zigzagging around pans to find somewhere to eat, they head directly to the trough and line up easily side by side. (Calculate with approx. 20cm feed space per cockerel)
The cockerels all start eating together when the feed trough comes within reach. This means more time on average at the feeder and a more even consumption between the roosters
Our system is very simple – one trough and a feed belt. It is easy to adjust the depth of the feed on the belt. It is also easy to adjust how much of the total length of the belt will contain the feed. (Example: using a timed feed release, only the first 60m of the belt is loaded instead of, say, 80m)
The feed level in the trough is easy to check compared to other systems because it is very visible
There is less wasted feed with a belt compared to other chain systems where the feed is trapped under the feed chain
Because the system is a straight feed trough down the side of the house, it takes up nearly half the space of feed pans which frees up space for the hens in the centre of the house.
In a house with a double row of nests, access to the trough from both sides is possible: simply double the height of the food in the trough.
Feed level is simply adjusted from one place and easy to understand: an adjustable bolt and slider on the hopper at the front of the system
Because the system uses a simple belt it is easier to clean and it requires very little maintenance compared to other chain systems.
