Crude Perlite is an inorganic stone that is formed during volcanic eruptions. The stone is purified and broken into various grades. Pull processes this raw material in special furnaces at a temperature of about
950°C. During this expansion process, the bonded water in the ore evaporates. The final product of the production process is a white, porous, lightweight grain: Perlite.
Agra-perlite is an environmentally-friendly product with a rough surface and an open structure. As a result the grains contain a lot of air and can absorb a lot of water. Agra-perlite as an additive in potting soil greatly reduces shrinkage. Adding Agra-perlite to potting soils considerably increases the amount of air. Agra-perlite is RHP/ECAS certified.
Applications
Agra-perlite has many applications and is easy to use. For example, this substrate serves as a additive in potting soils, soil for cuttings sowing soils and plugs. Rooting cuttings as well as covering seeds are other common uses. In addition to improving the structure, Agra-perlite also acts as a light reflector.
