The ECONEX G TRAP is the most suitable trap for the capture of adult male Pine processionary moths (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) and other species, such as the Gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar). The ECONEX G TRAP consists of a dark brown opaque plastic box, with a slightly rough texture on the outside and smooth inside. It also contains a stopper to hang the pheromone diffuser, a plastic bag for collecting the captured moths, a plastic clamp to attach the bag and two hangers to hang the trap. The box has two horizontal entrance funnels extended with flaps, that limit the space inside the main body of the trap. Attracted by the pheromone diffuser, the male enters the trap and falls into the plastic bag from which it cannot escape. The collection bag is made of a lightweight and flexible plastic, to prevent the formation of a large enclosure under the trap in which the males can fly with some ease and perhaps escape. The bottom of the bag is black, to prevent the birds from seeing the captured insects and tearing at it when they want to feed on them. TRAP ACTIVATION: The trap is activated by placing the ECONEX THAUMETOPOEA PITYOCAMPA pheromone diffuser inside the trap and hanging it from the stopper located at the top, using a paperclip. The traps should hang from pine trees or on a specific support. PERIOD OF USE: The traps should be present, especially at the beginning of the insect’s flight period.
