The chassis of the Gigant G400-15 is engineered and manufactured in-house. This makes the motor pump unit compact and yet accessible to all components. The BPW undercarriages are air-sprung and braked. The front axle is hydraulically driven via integrated travel motors. These motors are switched freely during transport. With the remote control, the motor pump unit can be maneuvered into place in the yard. The strong traction drive is suitable for slopes of 20%. The Gigant G400-15 is equipped with a 400hp 13 liter Scania StageV diesel engine which has a high torque and power at a low speed. The maximum power is already available from 1200 rpm. This gives the engine an extremely favorable fuel consumption.
The slurry pump, a Cornell 4NHTB or a Doda AFI35 centrifugal pump, is driven via a switchable powerband. The major advantage of drive via power bands is a minimal power loss and a high flexibility in the choice of pumps with the corresponding different speeds. This allows the engine to always operate at its most efficient speed. For cleaning the hoses, screw compressor is mounted with a gigantic capacity of 25m3/min. Increasing the capacity of the air compressor was necessary due to the increasingly larger transport hoses. Cleaning the hoses took more and more time because the compressors did not grow in capacity. With the arrangement, it is also possible to clean with the same capacity with which manure is pumped.
