The Soil Compaction Tester is an economical analog penetrometer used to determine the density of the soil. The 24" stainless steel rod is pushed into the ground and the resistance of the cone tip at the end of the rod is displayed. Two sized tips are included and stored in the housing of the tester. An adjustable shock collar on the rod is included to prevent damage to the gauge during transport or storage. The tester can penetrate up to 24" (60cm) in 3" (7.6cm) increments.
