The 3448T is the wheel loader with telescopic arm 3448T among the Thaler articulated loaders. The letter T refers to the lifting arm and means telescopic boom instead of the normal lifting boom of the L / S / H models.
It is obvious that the extendable telescopic arm expands the working radius by far. It reaches a height of 4.05 m at the shovel pivot pin. This is high respectively far in the front and for an articulated loader it is then getting dangerous to tip over to the side. That is the reason why we have implemented our own advice: the wider the loader, the more stable it works. The wide tires 400 / 50-15 AS profile are now part of the standard equipment. The background is the increase in the bearing area. It has an outer width of 1.38 m measured over the tires. The rigid centre articulation with the pivoting axle and set of leaf springs in the rear provides an additional stability and higher tipping loads.
The modern rear chassis with round rear cast weight and a stylish hood made of GRP is identical to the one of its ‘brother’-loader with the normal lifting arm, the power source is a 48 HP Yanmar engine. The two-stage hydrostatic pump together with its axial piston motor, transfer gear box and cardan shaft are very well set up and harmonising nicely. 20 km/h top speed and high thrust due to the planetary gears in the axle hub are impressive. The angle of 55° in the centre articulation is enormous and guarantees very good manoeuvrability in the tightest of spaces. The two steering rams in the centre articulation ensure a balanced steering behaviour, to the left and to the right.
