The chain conveyor is a reliable piece of equipment for continuous, horizontal or inclined transport of granules or powders with a maximum particle diameter of 15 mm.
Chain conveyors are suitable for high-capacity transport over long distances. They are also used as dosing or discharge equipment.
A continuous chain runs in a rectangular trough. This chain transports the product along the trough in one direction while the return section – which is supported along its entire length – remains empty. The chain links are fitted with flights which transport the product along the base of the trough as a moving mass. As the product forms a compact mass during transport, the layer is thicker than the height of the flights. The conveyor chain is driven by a chain wheel at the end of the trough while the return wheel has a tensioning device.
The chain conveyor can be designed with intermediate outlets and is fitted with slides. It is available as a manually controlled version but normally has electro-pneumatic or electric control. An overflow valve with product sensors generates a signal to switch off the conveyor if the product cannot be discharged for any reason.
